-The Great Plant Escape, created by the University of Illinois Extension, teaches upper elementary students about basic botany concepts. Students join a carrot and pea pod named Bud and Sprout as they help Detective LeFleur solve any of six plant-related mysteries. Students first read through a case to learn basic facts about the topic; they then complete a variety of interactive activities to show their understanding of the concepts involved. Some pen-and-paper activities also are included. All content is available in Spanish, and an extensive Teacher's Guide is provided to assist with pre-activity questioning and extension activities. Students can complete each case in 25-40 minutes.
